Gotec visits

We have recently developed a partnership with the local business GoTec, which provides exciting opportunities for students to dive into the world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). This collaboration aims to spark curiosity and creativity in young minds by offering hands-on learning experiences that explore the wonders of technology, sound, and renewable energy. Students have the chance to engage with cutting-edge tools and concepts, making learning not only educational but also incredibly fun and interactive. The recent trips to goTec were just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting journey for our students as they explore new horizons in the STEM fields.

The Marmots couldn’t have been more excited about their recent trip to the GoTec. Full of curiosity and energy, the kids dove into an experience that was equal parts fun, fascinating, and educational. They were swept away by the wonders of sound, music, and technology, discovering new ways to play and learn. One of the standout moments came when the children listened to an interactive story about a brave knight on a daring journey. Along the way, he encountered various challenges and animals. When the knight met a galloping horse, the children sprang into action with coconut shells, clapping them together to mimic the sound of hooves pounding the ground. The children were also captivated by a red light-up button that beeped when pressed, adding an extra layer of excitement to their exploration of sound.

Meanwhile, the Grade 8 students had their own hands-on experience. They were given the challenge of building their own solar-powered cars, and the chance to race their creations after putting them together. The process of learning how solar panels work and how they convert sunlight into energy left the students in awe of the power of renewable energy. The Grade 8 students also shared some handy tips for anyone who wants to build their own solar car: bring a shampoo bottle to use as a base, and be sure to measure the wood carefully to get the right fit. They were able to take their very own solar cars home, where they can continue to test and race them on sunny days.

Looking ahead, the students expressed interest in exploring how the solar system connects to solar panels. They’re excited about delving deeper into these topics and seeing how their new understanding of solar energy can be applied to the universe at large.

For both the Marmots and the Grade 8 students, the trip to goTec was not just a day of fun – it was a chance to spark imagination, ignite curiosity, and inspire the next generation of tech enthusiasts and innovators. Throughout the year, many of our students will have the chance to visit Gotec for their own STEM inquiries.
