At ISSH, one of the most anticipated events of the year is quickly approaching: International Day! This exciting day, hosted annually by our Parents’ Association (PA), is a wonderful opportunity for the entire school community to come together and celebrate the rich cultural diversity that makes our school so unique.
International Day isn’t just a celebration—it’s a chance for everyone to share and experience a little piece of each other’s culture. Whether it’s through food, music, fashion, or traditions, this day allows us to showcase the incredible range of backgrounds and nationalities that make up our ISSH family.
One of the highlights of International Day is the shared lunch, where everyone has the opportunity to bring a dish from their home country to share with the community. If you know others from your home country, why not team up to create a table that represents your nation’s unique culinary traditions? It’s a fun way to bond with familiar faces while showcasing the flavours and stories behind your culture. We want to make sure as many nationalities are represented as possible and welcome as many of our families to join for this event.
The more people we can get involved, the more vibrant and representative the event will be! We encourage as many students, parents, and staff as possible to participate, whether by sharing a dish from their home country, leading a traditional craft or dance workshop, or simply joining in the fun. We’ve had a variety of workshops over the years including: traditional Australian painting, Bollywood dancing, British party games and cooking lessons!
Let’s make this year’s International Day the best one yet, and represent as many nationalities as possible! It’s an event that highlights not just our differences, but also the shared values that bring us together in this global learning community. So, mark your calendars, get creative, and come ready to celebrate the world right here at ISSH!
Further information will be sent to members of our community via your class representative and the learning platforms. If you would like to contribute actively or share some ideas, please contact your class representative or the Parents’ Association Committee: pa@issh.ch.
