Boarding Programme

Welcome to our Community

At ISSH, we celebrate the power of individuality and the connections that bring us together. Our vibrant community extends beyond the boarding house and classrooms, fostering relationships that thrive in every aspect of school life. We believe that education is about more than academics—It’s about striking the perfect balance, where students reach their highest potential while thriving in a lively, inspiring, and supportive atmosphere that makes every day feel fresh and engaging.

Whether excelling in the classroom, engaging in enriching weekend activities, participating in extracurricular programs, or immersing into local Swiss culture, our students form bonds and memories that define their ISSH experience. Our dedicated teachers and boarding staff prioritize knowing each student personally, providing a nurturing yet stimulating environment that values both growth and laughter.

Small class sizes ensure personalized academic attention, while our close-knit boarding community offers a “home away from home” where every student feels respected, supported, and valued. Learning at ISSH is a joyful journey—one filled with challenges, character-building, and plenty of opportunities to have fun along the way.

We encourage our students to embrace their authentic selves, build resilience, and develop meaningful relationships that last a lifetime. The strength of our community—both within ISSH and in the surrounding area—helps our students grow into confident, well-rounded individuals, ready for their futures.

Every student contributes to the spirit of ISSH, enriching our diverse and supportive culture. Relationships and shared experiences are at the heart of everything we do, shaping the lives of our students both academically and personally.

Impressions of the Boarding House

The ISSH Boarding House is a warm, welcoming home away from home—a place where students can grow academically and personally in a supportive, family-like environment. We prioritize care and connection to ensure that every student thrives, both in their studies and as a well-rounded individual.

Located in the heart of Schaffhausen, our mixed-gender Boarding House offers the perfect balance of comfort and community. Students enjoy fully-equipped, homely amenities, including a kitchen, common area, and spacious, furnished rooms. The house is divided into boys’ and girls’ floors, with shared spaces like the kitchen and lounge that foster collaboration and connection.

At the heart of our Boarding House is a strong sense of community, where all students take responsibility for daily tasks, supported by our dedicated staff. In this nurturing environment, students develop independence and essential life skills, all while immersing themselves in Swiss culture and life in Schaffhausen.

Weekend trips & extracurricular activities

Boarding students at ISSH enjoy a variety of activities both on and off-campus, designed to bring them together as a community. From cinema trips and museum visits to hiking and swimming, these experiences encourage teamwork and exploration.

We also promote involvement in local extracurricular activities, such as sports, dance, and ice hockey, to help students connect with the wider community. By participating in local clubs, students immerse themselves in Swiss culture, build friendships, and develop key life skills like responsibility and time management. These activities enrich their overall experience and strengthen the sense of belonging within the ISSH community.
