Grade 9 and 10
A school year at the ISSH offers many advantages
The ISSH new education year can be completed as the 9th or 10th school year. Basic courses in mathematics, German and French are chosen depending on the level of knowledge and the desired goal. The elective subjects Natural Sciences and Economics complement the basic subjects. A core element of the programme are courses in career choice, application and communication training, time and self-management, design courses and international Matura preparation courses (Pre-IB Year), ICT (Information Communication Technology) and sport.
One year individually customised
Exam preparation year
The year of further education with a focus on secondary school and higher education concentrates on academic subjects. Gaps in languages and mathematics can be closed. In addition, general educational knowledge is consolidated and expanded. Language diplomas in English and French complement the curriculum vitae. This choice of direction includes the opportunity to prepare for the exams and, if you are suitable and perform well, entitles you to transfer to the Matura without an exam (grades 11 and 12; International Baccalaureate Diploma). We offer specific exam preparation for cantonal schools, FMS, BMS or HMS.
Vocational career year
We help the young people to recognise their strengths and weaknesses. Where do my talents lie? How can I make use of my strengths? Career choice tests and taster internships help with the career choice decision. An appropriate choice of subjects enables gaps to be closed and the curriculum vitae to be supplemented by courses.

Language year
During a year of further education at the International School, students experience an English-speaking school community and can choose all subjects in English. This immersion in English during the school day improves listening comprehension, expression, vocabulary and reading comprehension enormously fast. It is like a language study stay – only that after school the students return to everyday life in Switzerland. In addition to natural language acquisition, preparatory courses for Cambridge First or DELF can also be taken. Proven language skills in the form of language diplomas add value to any CV.
