The International School of Schaffhausen (ISSH) was born from a bold vision in 1999 — to create a world-class international school in the heart of Schaffhausen. From a small, pioneering community of 25 students to over 300 students from 30+ nationalities, ISSH has grown into a thriving global family. Our story is one of growth, innovation, and a shared commitment to excellence in education.
A Dream Takes Root
ISSH opens its doors with just 25 students, offering a welcoming space for international families.
1999
A Growing Global Community
Our student body expands to 64 children representing 15 different nationalities.
2001
IB Primary Years Programme Introduced
We take a global step forward by offering the internationally recognized IB PYP, nurturing curious young minds.
2003
Locally Grounded, Globally Inspired
The ISSH Foundation is established, anchoring the school in the local community while supporting our global mission.
2006
A New Home for Learning
We move to the historic Logierhaus, transforming it into a vibrant hub for 150 students and their families.
2009
Expanding Horizons
The IB Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme are introduced, offering world-class pathways to success.
2011
Supporting the Littlest Learners
Our childcare center opens, providing care and learning for children as young as three months.
2012
Our First Graduates
A proud milestone as we celebrate our first IB Diploma graduates — ready to take on the world!
2013
A Home Away from Home
Our Boarding Program takes off with two cozy houses, providing a supportive environment for international students.
2014-2016
Community at Heart
We launch family-centered initiatives like holiday programs and the Family Hub to strengthen bonds within our community.
2019
300 Students and Counting
Over 300 students from 30+ nationalities now call ISSH home, united in a spirit of curiosity and learning.
