Embracing Tradition: Fasnacht at the Early Learning Centre

At the Early Learning Centre, Fasnacht was a whirlwind of joy, creativity, and cultural tradition! The beloved Swiss carnival gave our youngest learners the perfect chance to express themselves through dazzling costumes, filling the school with laughter, colour, and celebration.

The Marmots had a blast with face painting and a groovy disco dance party, while the Foxes also joined in with the festivities  —dressing up in fantastic Fasnacht outfits, dancing, and even whipping up a delicious Fasnacht cake! Layered with crispy Fasnachtschüechli, smooth vanilla custard, and sweet raspberries, their masterpiece was a treat fit for a true Carnival celebration.

But Fasnacht is about more than just dressing up—it’s a time for children to step into a world of imagination and play, boosting their confidence and sense of belonging. Watching them arrive in their colorful costumes, beaming with excitement and pride, was a heartwarming reminder of the magic of childhood and the joy of tradition.

Celebrating Kindness and Community on Valentine’s Day

At ISSH, Valentine’s Day is more than just a celebration of love—it’s a wonderful reminder of the strong sense of community that brings us together. Through kind words, thoughtful gestures, and acts of appreciation, our students and staff embraced the day as an opportunity to express gratitude and friendship.

In the ELC, our youngest learners took time to reflect on the things they love most, channeling their affection into beautifully crafted cards for one another—a heartwarming way to share joy and appreciation.

During Discovery Afternoons, students explored the theme of love and connection by creating their own little family figures from wooden people. This fun and reflective activity encouraged them to celebrate the bonds that shape who they are.

In Secondary, students spread positivity by leaving thoughtful notes for their classmates. These small yet meaningful messages, waiting on lockers to surprise their recipients, helped brighten the day with words of encouragement and appreciation.

This special day was a wonderful reminder of the power of kindness and connection at every level of our school. Let’s continue to spread kindness—not just on Valentine’s Day, but every day! ❤️

Celebrating Unity in Diversity – International Dayat ISSH

At ISSH, International Day is more than just a celebration of the many nationalities within our school—it is a powerful reminder of the values that bring us together. No matter where we come from, what language we speak, or what traditions we follow, we are united by kindness, respect, and the desire to learn from one another.

This year’s International Day was a vibrant showcase of our community’s diversity, filled with meaningful experiences that fostered curiosity and openness. Students had the unique opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops led by parents, who generously shared their cultures, traditions, and skills. From Irish dancing to making Yorkshire puddings and Bollywood dancing, these sessions allowed students to explore different parts of the world in an engaging and hands-on way.

A highlight of the day was our wonderful community lunch, where families came together to share delicious dishes representing the many nations within our school. The array of flavours and recipes reflected the richness of our global community and provided a beautiful opportunity for students, parents, and staff to connect over food and conversation.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the parents who contributed their time, effort, and passion—whether by preparing food, leading workshops, or joining us for the community lunch. A special appreciation goes to the Parents’ Association Committee for their dedication and leadership in organising this unforgettable day.

As Ebru Güver, our Head of School reminded us in her inspiring speech, International Day is not just about recognising our differences but about celebrating the values that unite us. The friendships formed here, across cultures and backgrounds, show that we are stronger together. By embracing openness, respect, and understanding, our students are already shaping a more connected and compassionate world.

Let’s continue to walk with pride in who we are and appreciation for one another—today and every day.
