SPOTLIGHT: May 2024

Early Learning Centre

Wolves started the week with their super professional performance in the show ‘Robin Hood’. After weeks of rehearsing and practising choreography, they could finally show their talent to the world. It was definitely a great experience to be on the stage in front of such a big audience. Children were really proud of themselves as were we, the teachers!

We continued to learn and talk about our big topic, family and had many beautiful little presentations about families. Children who brought their family photos enjoyed sharing the stories about their family members with their friends. It was really nice to observe how the children were interested  in listening to each other’s little speeches and checking each other’s photos, curiously asking questions and wanting to hear more.

The Marmots have been learning about the colour green, spotting green items in the environment around them and reflecting on this emotion. They focused on the questions, “What makes us calm?” and “How can we calm our minds?”

The Foxes have been busy preparing for their Exhibition. They shaped more details for this event, planning a menu and looking at ingredients and recipes to cook for their families. Planning a menu provided them with the opportunity to improve their culinary language and vocabulary. It also supported their understanding of taking turns and making decisions as a group. They could also overview a process made up of several steps.

We started off the week with the Robin Hood production. This gave the Bears the opportunity to explore taking risks by standing on stage, singing and doing the actions of the song. The children also helped to set up the Exhibition this week. They practised cutting and spreading with a knife and assembling sandwiches to prepare finger food for their families.

Primary School

In May, our Grade 3, 4, and 5 students took part in the standardized International Schools Assessment (ISA). This annual assessment provides us with valuable insights into how our students’ performance compares to that of other international schools. Additionally, the data collected from the ISA is used to internally evaluate and enhance our educational programs and strategies.

Grade 3 and 4 students also enjoyed several days at Crans Montana for their annual camp, where they acquired many lifelong skills. Meanwhile, our Grade 2 students are eagerly anticipating their overnight camp, and our Grade 1 students have planned trips to a farm and a farmer’s market to learn about how our food choices impact ourselves and the planet.

This week the Primary students in the Theatre Club showcased their hard work through their performances. The journey began in January when students from Grades 2 to 5 auditioned for their roles. Since then, they have been meeting weekly to prepare for the show. Starting with a read-through of the script, the students edited and added parts from films to enrich their performance. They then moved on to acting, bringing their characters to life with dedication. Each performer showed real commitment, taking feedback on board and supporting their peers throughout the process. The classes also learned songs to form the chorus for the main cast and each class created a dance to one of the songs. Their enthusiasm and determination during rehearsals was inspiring, and they consistently supported each other to ensure a successful performance. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to more fantastic performances in the future.

Secondary School

Students in the secondary school are gearing up for their end-of-year exams, while our teachers are putting together some fantastic events: MUN, Career Day, IDA Week, the G4 trip, and Sports Day. These exciting activities are going to create unforgettable memories for everyone.

Keep an eye on Managebac for announcements, and be sure to check out the pictures we’ll be sharing on social media. We want you to be part of every moment as it happens. Good luck to all our secondary students on their exams—we look forward to enjoying these last few weeks together!
