Wide range of extracurricular activities

Students at ISSH are engaged in learning from the moment they enter the school until the moment they leave. Apart from the structured lesson timetable, ISSH offers a wide variety of activities that go beyond the classroom to promote personal development and support academic success.

After School Clubs

During the year, the school organizes several voluntary after school clubs. These after school clubs take place once a week, before school or directly after a school day, and usually last 45 minutes. After school clubs can consist of a variety of activities including sports, music, arts, drama, cooking, games and writing. The school also liaises with a number of external groups who also provide clubs, tuition and training for the students in a variety of ways.

Excursions

To support their inquiries the students participate in a number of excursions during the school year. These happen during the normal school day and replace the regular lesson. The benefits of these trips are numerous but the fundamental objective is to allow students to develop conceptual understanding of the real world.

Field Trips

Grade 6  – 8 students take part in an annual field trip. This is different in content and duration for each grade, but will involve at least one night sleeping away from home. These field trips are designed to support academic learning, but pay particular attention to the development of social skills, self-confidence and independence.
